Our Work

Environmental Impact Monitoring/Geodatabase
Design & Development

Project: Arctic Nearshore Impact Monitoring in the Development Area (ANIMIDA) Geodatabase Development
Client: DOI Minerals Management Service (MMS)
Contract: 01-99-CT-30998

This project’s goals were to monitor the environmental impacts associated with development activities and initial production of oil in the Beaufort Sea, Alaska. Working as a subcontractor to Harvard Design & Mapping Co., Mapping Sustainability was enlisted to create a relational database using Oracle SQL scripts and ESRI’s Spatial Database Engine (ArcSDE scripts) for environmental chemistry and acoustics data. This geospatial database met the MMS Coastal and Offshore Resource Information System (CORIS) database design and metadata requirements and was integrated with their existing information system. The database design was fully documented using Microsoft Visio and data dictionaries.
